Are you avoiding stillness?

We live in a world FULL of distractions.

From the moment we wake up if we aren’t careful we become instantly stimulated and distracted.

Whether it’s our screens that we seem to have on us 24/7, the monkey mind racing throughout the day or even just a constant feeling of being rushed and slightly behind the pace. A feeling like we can never quite “catch up”.

The common factor across all of these things is a lack of stillness in our day.

How often do you take the time out to simply be still? Probably not very often…

I’m a huge believer in cultivating a daily ritual that allows you to simply be still, go inwards and give yourself the opportunity to tune into how you are actually feeling in that moment.

That process as counter intuitive as it can seem , really does give me the opportunity to tune in, process and gain a clarity of mind. It gives me the ability to stay focused and remain calm regardless of what is happening around me on any given day.

As we all know, we can have the best of intentions but things don’t always play out the way we want them to and its that inability to remain calm and then adapt to any situation that creates stress in our lives.

So wherever you are at, I’d invite you to approach this idea of seeking more stillness in your day with a sense of curiosity and wonder what if I actually give myself time each day to sit, be still, breathe and tune into what your highly intelligent SELF is trying to tell you.

If this idea is completely foreign to you and it’s feeling a little “woo woo”, that’s cool. Just give it a go?

Take 5 min out of your day, sit somewhere quiet (even better if you can get outside) and close down the eyes and simply breathe in and out. Focus on your breath and see what happens..

If you can’t do 5 min, then do 2, if you can’t do 2 then you probably need an hour. xIf you are anything like me, some days feel like there is SO MUCH TO DO and not nearly enough time or resources to do them.

If we aren’t careful, a wave of overwhelm can quickly take over and we can find ourselves “rushing” through the day taking us out of the present moment.

Although we may think we are being productive by rushing around trying to get things done, more often than not the quality of whatever we are doing goes way down while the felt sense of stress goes up leaving us feeling like we have much more on our plate than we can handle.

This is a sure sign that we have a busy monkey mind at play..

The reality is, it’s not how much is on your plate in any given moment. It’s how well prepared mentally and physically we are to meet the demands of each day.

If we can enter each day with a calm mind and a vital body, it makes it a hell of a lot easier to “work with” what ever comes our way each day.

An awesome way to achieve this calm state is by writing..

Whether it’s simply getting clear on EXACTLY what you need to do today or perhaps it’s sitting down and reflecting on how you feel, WRITE IT DOWN.

Writing is such an incredible tool to process how we are feeling in any particular moment as well as helping us get clear on what ACTION we need to take to get us towards our dreams.

DREAM IT UP

WRITE IT DOWN

BRING IT INTO EXISTENCE
